The role
You will work as part of the Relationship Management team, managing a varied workload, and supporting other Relationship Managers to complete the ever-growing workload of applications.
The main purpose of this role is to underwrite and assess the risk of commercial loan applications in order to support the company in making sound lending decisions. You will be a quick learner and employ a keen eye for detail everything you do.
Main responsibilities
- Reviewing applications from businesses that have applied for funding.
- Checking and assessing all supporting documentation from the applicant, including understanding financial accounts, bank statements, and credit reports.
- Completing a full underwriting assessment of each application using the information provided, complete with a summary and recommendation on whether or not the company should lend.
- Present application summaries to the Credit Committee and senior management where necessary.
- Sign off any loan conditions, present more complex conditions to Credit Audit to Credit Committee.
- Carefully and accurately generate funding offers and loan agreements.
- Complete Anti-Money Laundering checks and Know Your Customer assessments.
- Maintain strict deadlines for completion of tasks, stipulated by the Company.
- Liaise with other departments, introducers, and other available sources to gather further supporting information.
- Contact clients by telephone and e-mail to discuss their requirements and work with them to find the best funding solution.
- Guide the client through the application and drawdown process, achieving a positive customer experience.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with clients on completion of their application in order to maximize future opportunities.
- Ensure customer applications are dealt with promptly, fairly, and in accordance with company compliance procedures.
- Keep up to date on changes in company policies and compliance procedures.
- Execute any reasonable request from management.
What we're looking for
You'll be:
- Professional and confident with some experience in a previous underwriting role.
- Self-motivated, ambitious and forward-thinking, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams and remain flexible.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- An excellent communicator (both written and oral) with the ability to express opinions and points of view in a clear, concise manner.
- Good time management is essential.
- Strong analytical, administrative and organisation skills and great attention to detail.
- Ability to work alone and in a team.
