An Ipswich-based business lender has celebrated the stunning championship victory of hometown heavyweight star Fabio Wardley, who was crowned interim WBA Heavyweight Champion following his dramatic knockout win over Justis Huni at Portman Road on Saturday night.
Fleximize, which sponsored Wardley ahead of the historic stadium showdown, watched alongside 20,000 supporters as the Suffolk fighter produced one of boxing's greatest comebacks to claim his first major title in front of his home crowd.
"What an absolutely incredible night for Fabio and for Ipswich," said Peter Tuvey, CEO of Fleximize. "To witness a hometown champion being crowned at Portman Road was truly special. Fabio showed the heart and determination that Suffolk is known for, never giving up even when the odds were stacked against him."
The fight appeared to be slipping away from Wardley as Australian Huni dominated the early rounds, but the Ipswich fighter turned the contest on its head with a devastating knockout blow in the tenth round to secure the most important victory of his career.
"We're absolutely thrilled to have been part of Fabio's journey," added Mr Tuvey. "Nights like this are exactly why we love supporting local talent - you just never know when someone's going to create a moment that the whole town will remember forever."
Fleximize, which has provided over £550 million in funding to SMEs since 2014, continues its commitment to supporting local success stories across East Anglia. The company's sponsorship of Wardley reinforces its deep roots in the Ipswich community and dedication to celebrating regional achievements on the global stage.
The victory marks a fairytale ending to what many are calling one of the most memorable sporting nights in Ipswich's recent history, with the newly-crowned champion giving Tractor Boys fans another reason to celebrate at their beloved Portman Road.
