In an article for Business Quarter, the national print and digital title for SMEs and entrepreneurs, Fleximize’s managing director Peter Tuvey advised business owners on how to keep hold of their best employees.
While it’s generally accepted that a high level of staff turnover can make it difficult for a company to scale, many business owners don’t consider their retention strategy when taking on their first employees. As Peter argues in this article, such a strategy is fundamental to the success of any business – and it starts with hiring candidates who fit your company’s culture, rather than those who simply have an impressive CV.
Peter goes on to outline some of the other ways that companies can boost staff loyalty and engagement, such as praising and rewarding employees for their hard work. “Even small gestures, such as saying “thank you” in person or via email, or making positive comments on recent performance, will help motivate staff and make them feel valued,” he says.
