By Emma Meakin

Word of mouth is a powerful and effective marketing tool. Providing outstanding service that delights customers will encourage them to to share their knowledge of the brand and recommend it to their peers. An event or new product will also generate wanted publicity. For example hosting a launch event for a new product will not only generate a buzz about the products but also help spread news of your new product via customer's talking about attending.

A popular way to encourage discussion is through incentives. These can be offered throughout the year and can be time with major public holidays, such as Easter, Halloween or Christmas. For example, when you’re providing a service, adding something extra in the form of a reward can be a successful conversation starter. The efficiency of social networking platforms shouldn’t be underestimated. Online incentives, such as prize draw entries for customers who share your company with their friends, are effective and soon create a buzz.
